![]() Despite some shifts in design, Ziggurat 2 is still a roguelite FPS at its core. So yes, contrary to many other roguelites and dungeon crawlers, Ziggurat 2 does have a storyline, even if it’s one that is merely based on exposition through 2D cutscenes. In Ziggurat 2, you play as a group of mages whose goal is to rebuild the Ziggurat, and so you embark on a quest to gather support and whatever else is necessary to accomplish that objective. Unfortunately, a civil war between the mages broke out and due to the ensuing maelstrom, the Ziggurat was damaged and its prisoners managed to flee and are now terrorizing the land. The Ziggurat was a prison that housed many monsters and creatures who couldn’t be killed, but it also served as the final trial for any mages of the land that aspired to join the Brotherhood. With that in mind, I dove into the current Early Access version Ziggurat 2 hoping to see something new and exciting, something that would grab my attention for more than just a few hours. It was recommended to me by a friend, I gave it a shot and although I liked it, I put it aside after just a few hours. ![]() In any case, while I did play the first game, I don’t think it would be fair to say that I really got to know it. ![]() I’m pretty sure that the original, released way back in 2014, was one of the first FPS roguelites/dungeon crawlers to be released on Steam, but nowadays there are many more. I don’t remember exactly when, but sometime during last week, as I was browsing Steam like I tend to do, to see if I find any game worth checking out, I stumbled upon Ziggurat 2 in the upcoming section. Suggestions of all kinds are welcome: Enemies, weapons, perks, characters, new modes, etc.” It should be pretty stable, and can already provide several hours of enjoyment.” Will the game be priced differently during and after Early Access? “We plan to increase the price when the game exits Early Access, and it may go up in price a bit when we release a big content update.” How are you planning on involving the Community in your development process? “We'll listen to suggestions in the forum and our social networks. We'll probably add additional game modes, such as the Daily Challenge, and of course, any community suggestions that we feel will improve the game.” What is the current state of the Early Access version? “The current version of the game offers approximately half of the expected final content, with dozens of unlockable weapons already available and almost a hundred perks. While there's still a lot of content to add, we think it's a good time to start gathering user feedback and help us determine which direction to follow in order to make the best game possible.” Approximately how long will this game be in Early Access? “Depending on the feedback amount we get of the game, we expect for it to stay on Early Access for 6-9 months more.” How is the full version planned to differ from the Early Access version? “We plan to have approximately twice the equipment items available in the first Early Access version, as well as new characters, enemies and dungeon themes. Why Early Access? “After more than a year in development, Ziggurat 2 is in a stage where we think it's playable and fun.
